How do I use Tranquileyes Moist Heat Therapy Goggles?
The ALODOX Convenience Kit contains ALODOX Tablets (Doxycycline Hyclate 20 mg), OCuSOFT
Lid Scrub PLUS Extra Strength Pre‐Moistened Pads (30 ct.), OCuSOFT Lid Scrub Original Foaming
Eyelid Cleanser (50 mL), Tranquileyes Moist Heat Therapy Goggles (limited use trial) and
Thermoeyes instant, reusable heat packs.
As prescribed by your doctor, the ALODOX Convenience Kit works by combining four essential
components of eyelid therapy and hygiene into one convenient package for effective relief.
- 1) Address inflammation with low dose doxycycline
- 2) Remove harmful bacteria with an extra strength eyelid cleanser
- 3) Maintain eyelid hygiene daily with a mild cleanser
- 4) Relieve irritation and discomfort with a warm compress
Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by slowing the growth of bacteria in the body
and reducing inflammation.
Low dose doxycycline provides the same anti‐inflammatory power of higher dose doxycycline
with fewer side effects. Most bacteria found on the eyelids are resistant to doxy cycline, but
studies have demonstrated that using lower doses of doxycycline reduces inflammation without
concerns of bacterial resistance.1,2
Without proper eyelid hygiene, conditions resulting in inflammation of the eyelids and dry eyes
can develop. For moderate to severe cases of eyelid disease, the ALODOX Convenience Kit may
help prevent or drastically reduce inflammation by removing oil and debris from the eyelids,
employing the use of an oral antibiotic as well as an antibacterial cleanser and warm compress.
ALODOX is indicated to reduce the development of drug‐resistant bacteria while maintaining the
effectiveness of Doxycycline Hyclate Tablets. ALODOX should only be used to treat or prevent
infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria.
The recommended dosage is 20 mg twice per day. Take ALODOX tablets as prescribed by your
doctor. The following suggestions are important when taking doxycycline pills to minimize
stomach upset:
- 1) Do NOT take pills before lying down (wait at least 30 minutes before lying down)
- 2) Do NOT take pills with anything but water (acidic beverages such as orange juice or even coffee may cause stomach problems in combination with doxycycline)
- 3) DO take pills with meals (provided there are not a lot of dairy products in your meal)
It usually takes about 4‐6 weeks before the results of using ALODOX are noticeable. Even if
symptoms disappear, continue to use the medication for the full time prescribed to prevent the
return of infection. Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
The ALODOX Convenience Kit is available by prescription only. If you think you could benefit
from ALODOX, ask your eye doctor to write a prescription for this convenient kit.

ALODOX is contraindicated in persons who have shown hypersensitivity to doxycycline or any of
the other tetracyclines. Doxycycline can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant
woman. The use of drugs of the tetracycline class during tooth development (last half of
pregnancy, infancy and childhood to the age of 8 years) may cause permanent discoloration of
the teeth. Tetracycline drugs should not be used during tooth development or in pregnant or
nursing mothers. Photosensitivity can occur with any tetracycline class drugs.
